Breast Lift: Before and After Photo

    Tag Archives: Mommy Makeover

Breast lift procedures are typically performed in older women who’s breasts have sagged due to aging and child-bearing as well as patients who have had a dramatic weight loss. The sag is essentially caused by an excess amount of skin in comparison to the amount of breast tissue present and the procedure aims to correct that ratio with out the removal of breast tissue itself. Another effect of breasts sagging is that nipples become low on the breast which is addressed during a lift procedure, moving them back to the desired position. Nipples may also enlarge due to sagging and this can be remedied during the procedure also!

As you can see above the results of the procedure are youthful, full and lifted breasts that help to define the patients waist and give a younger figure! To learn more about the procedure you can read here and see Dr McCluskey discuss different incision types here.

We know you’ve heard us talk about the absolutely amazing results that our tummy tuck patients receive before, but it’s they’re so great we just can’t help ourselves!

The procedure involves removing excess, sagging skin from the abdomen, tightening the abdominal muscles, and performing liposuction to sculpt the waist. You can see Dr McCluskey explain each step of the procedure here, or you can watch the procedure from Dr McCluskey’s point of view here!

The mini-lift or mini facelift is my favorite procedure for facial rejuvenation!

Through a small, nearly invisible incision that falls in the crease of the ear I can lift the cheek and jowl, providing dramatic & long-lasting improvement of the jaw line, the chin & sub mental region.  Using a small incision beneath the chin I can combine the mini facelift with liposuction of the neck and a neck lift.

What I love about this procedure is that it can be performed under local anesthesia (with mild sedation) in an office setting, the incisions are small and well-hidden, the results (as you can see below) are beautiful & they stand the test of time, and the downtime & recovery are minimal.

Flat tummy, beautifully tapered waist, tight abdominal muscles – these are results that patients enjoy after a tummy tuck.  In one operation the excess fat and skin are removed, the 6-pack muscles are tightened, and the love handles (muffin-tops) are sucked away via liposuction.  Once they heal, tummy tuck patients are eager to show off their new figures & buy new form-fitting clothes.  They’re also very inspired to start exercising to maintain these dramatic results.

What do I tell post-tummy tuck patients about exercise?  I want them walking the evening of surgery.  I don’t want them just lying in bed and I want family members to help them but also to make them walk.  As their body heals and the discomfort improves I want them increasing their activity and within 2-3 weeks after surgery I have no problem with brisk walks, or elliptical machine type exercise (low-impact!).  Within 4-6 weeks the tummy tuck patient may resume her typical workout or exercise activities.

The most common exercise-related questions I get relate to situps or crunches.  When should patients resume situps after a tummy tuck?  Do patients need to do situps after a tummy tuck?  Can abdominal exercises hurt or “mess up” a tummy tuck?

Breast Implants | Breast Augmentation | Atlanta

Here’s my answer:  The patient will see a dramatic difference in her tummy before & after surgery.  The entire torso is flatter & more trim after abdominoplasty.  In the first few weeks after surgery there is not a need to resume situps or crunches after tummy tuck.  Patients may resume these exercises many weeks after surgery without any adverse effects.  After a few months performing abdominal exercise will help support and even improve the tummy tuck results.

Kim Kardashian is in the news as usual, but this time people are causing a stir by suggesting that the 33-year-old new mom dropped 50lbs not through hard work and dedication but through cosmetic surgery.

    Source: eonline.com

    Source: eonline.com

You can read more about the story here, but the basic gist of the story is that, despite it being nearly six months since little North West was brought in to the world, a lot of people are extremely dubious that Kim could have naturally lost all that weight in that amount of time to the point of filming a nude video with her husband-to-be Kanye West.

Reports suggest that Kim spent upwards of $60,000 to regain her infamous and highly sought after curvy figure after she piled on the lbs during her pregnancy, but she responded angrily claiming that she worked extremely hard to attain the hourglass shape that so many women desire.

Whether Kim Kardashian had surgery or not, she looks great and thousands of women will continue to emulate her appearance. If she had not dropped the baby weight it’s very likely these same tabloids would have still slammed Kim and found a reason to discuss her post baby body. So, in reality, who cares? I think that most people with that many critics would do everything they can to look their best.

As a divorced dad maybe I can offer a little insight on this topic.  I see a lot of patients who are either post-divorce or in the midst of a divorce or some other life-changing event.  I’m going to speak on the premise that there’s no right or wrong answer here.  Divorce sucks.  I don’t care what anyone says and I applaud those who try to smile and act like it’s no big deal but divorce is really hard on everyone involved, except for the lawyers of course.  Divorce breeds bitterness and hurt and it really brings out the worst in people – believe me, I know!  What I’ve found as a plastic surgeon, especially with my female patients, is that as the dust settles on major events like d

ivorce, and sometimes it takes months to years, and people resume normal life they’re ready for positive change.  This positive change could mean getting a new job, moving to a new city, meeting a new special someone, or buying a

new house or car.  As those things change, patients also seek to lose weight, eat better, exercise more, and in many cases have cosmetic plastic surgery.  This is one of those instances in which I really take issue with those who say that cosmetic surgery is all about vanity.  If a woman has had 2-3 children and she’s doing the best she can to look and feel good, then she deserves to get rid of that baby belly (extra fat, “the pooch”, extra skin, stretch marks) through a procedure like liposuction or a tummy tuck so that she can have a beautiful, flat tummy and feel better about herself both in and out of clothes.  Likewise if that baby weight has been tough to shed or maybe she’s dealt with feelings of depression that have caused some weight gain, then she deserves the immediate gratification of a procedure like liposuction.  Yes, it’s a quick fix & healthy weight loss requires a lifestyle change – I hear it all the time – but sometimes people just need a little boost or kickstart.  It’s amazing to me how many of my p
So that’s my little spiel on plastic surgery and major life events such as divorce.  Plastic surgery doesn’t fix the emotional pain of divorce, and I would never recommend it to a patient as a way to get past any form of psychological pain.  But for many patients it’s the first time in many years they’ve felt like doing something entirely for themselves and I completely applaud any effort to pick oneself up and make some positive changes, whatever they may be.ost surgical patients make drastic lifestyle improvements.  Finally they’re happy with their appearance and they’ll do everything they can to maintain it.

I recently saw a Dr. Oz episode about plastic surgery and discounts for divorce. I would never try to attract people to my practice as a result of some personal tragedy (or victory depending on your perspective).  Here’s a clip from that show and on this topic I have to completely agree with Dr. Oz’s opinion.   I love to offer discounts to military service people, teachers, and medical personnel but I do not offer discounts for divorce and the idea of such discounts just doesn’t sound ethical.

A Mommy Makeover - The Plastic Surgery Institute of AtlantaThe Plastic Surgery Institute of Atlanta, founded by Dr. Paul McCluskey, provides aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries of the face, body, and breast. Dr. McCluskey is an experienced plastic surgeon in Atlanta, GA, who has completed a five year residency in General Surgery as well as plastic surgery residency. He has performed a large number of surgical procedures over the years for patients in and around Atlanta.

    Mommy Makeover: An Overview

A mother’s body undergoes significant changes following pregnancy and breastfeeding. Typical post-pregnancy effects may include sagging breasts, nipples pointing downwards, excess fat deposits in the abdominal area, stretch marks, loose skin in the tummy, and fat pockets in thighs, hips, arms, neck or other parts of the body. In some cases, exercise and diet may not be adequate to reverse these changes.

Mommy makeover, or post-maternity body and breast re-shaping is an effective answer to this problem. A growing number of mothers are interested in having a mommy makeover procedure performed by a qualified and experienced cosmetic surgeon in order to regain their pre-pregnancy figure. The procedure is essentially a combination of multiple plastic surgeries to provide an overall improved appearance and a proportionate and shapely body.

    Breast Lift

Breast lift or mastopexy is commonly included as a part of a mommy makeover. Breasts may start sagging, lose their proportion or volume, and areolas may be stretched following a pregnancy. Breast lift is an effective surgery to significantly improve these conditions. The procedure involves removal of excess loose skin and tightening of underlying tissue and muscle to achieve a well-defined contour.

The position of the breasts, areolas, and nipples will be raised following a mastopexy. Sometimes the procedure may be combined with breast implant surgery to add more fullness and volume to the breasts. The operating surgeon will determine the best components of a mommy makeover in accordance with the patient’s needs and overall body condition, health, and appearance.

    Breast Reduction

During pregnancy, a woman’s breasts typically swell in size and shape. Following childbirth and nursing, the breast size may reduce naturally, and some drooping may occur, which can be correct with a breast lift. However, for some mothers the breasts continue to remain oversized, causing a disproportionate appearance. Breast reduction surgery is an effective way to return the breasts to their original pre-pregnancy size.

Restoration of smaller breast size not only improves appearance in such cases, but may also provide relief from other symptoms such as pain, awkward posture, breathing difficulties, rashes, restriction of movement, and skeletal deformities. With breast reduction technique, excess fat and glandular tissue is removed and skin is tightened to achieve smaller and lighter breasts that are in better proportion with the rest of the body.

    Tummy Tuck

The abdominal area usually suffers the most in terms of appearance following a pregnancy. The skin and muscles in the abdomen become stretched and weaker, resulting in a straighter waistline, loose skin and stretch marks. These conditions may not respond to exercise or diet. This is where a full or partial tummy tuck surgery can help as a part of a mommy makeover.

The abdominal area will become flatter and firmer with the tightening of abdominal muscles and removal of excess skin and fat. Tummy tuck is not designed to remove stretch marks, but quite often, tightening of skin may also help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

    Liposuction

Many mothers follow weight loss programs, fitness regimens and a balanced diet to return to normal weight following a pregnancy. However, certain stubborn fat deposits in specific areas of the body may not respond to such efforts. As a result, the body may appear less shapely and disproportionate, despite close to ideal body weight. Some women may also suffer from significant scarring due to a C-section delivery.

All these conditions can be improved with liposuction. This procedure, performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, is aimed at removing unwanted, stubborn fats the waist, abdomen, thighs, hips and buttocks, among other areas. It improves the contours and sculpts the targeted areas of the body to achieve a pre-pregnancy proportionate and shapely figure.
