    Chemical Peels

    Chemical Peels

If you want smoother, more youthful and healthier-looking skin, talk to Dr. McCluskey about starting a regimen of chemical peels. Chemical peels are very effective at smoothing out the texture of the skin and evening out your complexion. We can help you achieve and maintain a healthy glow with a customized chemical peel treatment. We offer several different types of peels to target each layer of skin. We will determine what will be most suitable for you during your consultation.

    Types of Chemical Peels

We offer a range of peels ranging from mild to strong. Each peel has a different purpose but all peels work to increase cellular turnover to exfoliate the skin at a deeper level. Your skin will start to shed and renew itself within a matter of weeks and once the superficial layer of skin disappears, you will be left with a healthier and more youthful glow.

    We offer:

Alphahdyroxy acid (AHA) – these peels are made of glycolic, lactic, and fruit acids and are the mildest types of peels available. They can smooth out and brighten the skin to bring out your natural glow.

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) – these are medium-depth peels that are well-suited for treating superficial lines, wrinkles, blemishes, and pigmentation problems. These peels can be an ideal solution for darker-skinned patients and may be combined with AHA peels for optimal results.

Phenol – this is the strongest type of peel and will treat deeper skin problems such as facial wrinkles, sun spots, blotchy skin, and areas with pre-cancerous growths. The recovery time can be fairly extensive but you will notice a significant difference in the texture and tone of your skin.

Our peels are customized for each patient and can be combined with other procedures such as a facelift to enhance results. We can determine whether you need a chemical peel for medical reasons instead of cosmetic reasons for insurance coverage purposes.

What to Expect with Chemical Peels

We administer chemical peels right in our office and typically do not need to use anesthesia. You may experience a mild stinging sensation when the peel is applied in layers. We will need to clean the skin before applying the peeling solution. You’ll notice some redness, irritation, and stinging after treatment and the skin will start to shed within a few days of treatment. Any swelling or discomfort will subside shortly after treatment. As the skin heals and renews itself, you will notice a significant difference in the appearance of your skin.
