    Breast Reduction

    Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction | Atlanta | Marietta | RoswellIf you are having postural problems, upper back pain, or feel self-conscious about your appearance because you have very large breasts, you may be a good candidate for breast reduction surgery. A breast reduction can decrease your breast size to balance out your figure. Many women enjoy both aesthetic and physical benefits after undergoing breast reduction surgery and this procedure can be combined with a breast lift to create a lifted, more youthful look.

    Benefits of Breast Reduction Surgery

Having very large breasts can make it difficult to sit up and stand up straight for several hours at a time, perform certain types of physical exercises, and live without upper back and shoulder pain. Breast reduction surgery can make it easier to find clothes that fit and also alleviate many symptoms associated with carrying extra weight in front. Some of the benefits of breast reduction surgery include:

    • Resolves skin irritation from large breasts
    • Restores body balance
    • Repositions the breasts and nipples
    • Can reshape breasts
    • Reduces pain and discomfort from having oversized breasts

What to Expect with a Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia and can take up to five hours. Dr. McCluskey will remove fat and tighten the skin to create smaller breasts that are more proportionate to the rest of the body. A small, anchor-shaped incision is made from the new location of the nipple down to and around the crease under the breast.

We will remove excess tissue, fat, and skin before relocating the nipples and reshaping the breast. In some cases, Dr. McCluskey will perform liposuction to remove excess fat around the armpit area and breast tissue. Scars from this procedure are minimal and will fade over time.
