    Preparing For Browlift Surgery

Preparing For Browlift SurgeryBrow lift cosmetic surgery is a procedure that helps reverse the signs of aging and restore a more youthful appearance to the brow by tightening the soft tissue. A comprehensive preparation before the surgery will enable the patient to attain safe and desirable outcomes.

At the time of pre-op consultation, the surgeon will explain all about the brow lift procedure, and provide guidelines for advance preparation. Experienced plastic surgeon Dr. Paul McCluskey provides brow lift to patients in Atlanta, Buckhead, Georgia, and other towns and suburbs in this tremendous part of the country.

    Arranging Medical Records

As part of determining the patient to be a candidate for a brow lift cosmetic surgery, the surgeon would like to review the past health records of the patient. If the surgeon sees anything of concern, they may review the condition before going ahead with the brow lift procedure. On top of this, they may make changes in the surgical plan to make it safer for the patient.

The patient should ask the physician, hospital, or specialist to send past health records directly to the surgeon’s office for review during the consultation. This will save time and expedite the surgery process.

    Diet and Exercise

Brow lift surgery is a relatively minor surgery. However, the patient should still focus on having a well-balanced diet and exercising regularly before the procedure.

A patient who is fit will be mentally and physically better prepared to undergo anesthesia and surgery. Additionally, they will experience faster healing. The patient may consume more lean protein in consultation with a nutritionist for a specific duration before and after the procedure.

    Avoiding Smoking and Alcohol

The patient should frankly tell the surgeon about their smoking and drinking behaviors during the pre-op consultation. The surgeon will direct the patient to refrain from smoking for a minimum of a few weeks before the brow lift surgery.

Smoking can heighten the risk of complication significantly and impede recovery. The patient may have to reduce alcohol consumption and refrain from drinking alcohol for a minimum of 48 hours prior to the procedure.

    Adjusting Medication Schedule

If the patient takes aspirin or other blood thinners, or anti-inflammatory medication regularly, the surgeon may ask them to stop using these drugs for a particular duration before the procedure. The patient may have to stop some vitamins, herbal supplements, or prescription meds in consultation with their physician. The surgeon’s main objective will be to reduce the risk of bleeding during or post-surgery.

    Transportation and Aftercare

Brow lift is typically undertaken as an outpatient procedure. The patient should arrange for a responsible person to drive them back after the surgical procedure. They may consider aftercare for a few days, especially if they have small children to care for.

    Other Preparatory Suggestion

    • Stay adequately hydrated prior to and after the surgery
    • Fill all prescriptions before the procedure
    • Set-up the recovery area in advance
    • Keep extra pillows for head elevation
    • Keep ice packs handy
