Liposuction
Liposuction continues to be the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the United States and is an attractive option for patients that want to lose stubborn fat from common problem areas such as the abdomen, waist, thighs, and buttocks. We customize this body contouring procedure to ensure we are removing only just the right amount of body fat to achieve optimal results.
Dr. McCluskey has extensive experience performing liposuction using some of the latest body sculpting techniques and will provide you with a customized treatment plan to address all areas of concern.
Benefits of Liposuction
Many patients seek out liposuction because they are can’t slim down certain areas of the body with diet and exercise alone. Genetics and lifestyle play a role in where the body stores body fat and some areas may be more resistant than others. Liposuction can target these areas and remove localized fat deposits.
Some of the key benefits of liposuction include:
- Can target both small and large areas of body fat
- Requires making very small incisions
- Can be a minimally-invasive procedure
- May be performed under local anesthesia
- Reduces fat cells
- Completely customized for the patient
What to Expect with Our Liposuction Procedures
Since every patient has a different body type and problem areas, they may benefit from one of several different types of liposuction techniques. Dr. McCluskey has extensive experiencing performing both suction-assisted lipectomy (SAL) or ultrasonic-assisted lipectomy (UAL). Both techniques only require making a very small incision around the treatment area so that we can insert a cannula into the tissue and suction out the fat.
The liposuction procedure can last from one to five hours depending on the amount of fat that needs to be removed. We will determine whether your procedure needs to be performed under local or general anesthesia.
After surgery, you will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks to ensure proper healing and reduce discomfort. We encourage patients to walk as soon as they are able to after surgery and avoid strenuous activities for about a month. Most patients can return to work within a few days of their procedure.
Getting Results with Liposuction
It typically takes about three months to see full results after liposuction but some patients may see a significant difference after the swelling resolves in a few weeks. Your full recovery time will depend on a number of factors, including your overall health, age, and level of activity.
