Spectrum Erbium YAG Laser Skin Resurfacing
Our skin can develop age spots, fine lines, and superficial wrinkles over time. Fortunately, there are ways to minimize some of these effects of aging without resorting to surgery or more aggressive treatments. Our practice is excited to offer the Spectrum Erbium Yag Laser for patients interested in skin rejuvenation.
Erbium laser treatments are less invasive than other skin resurfacing treatments which means minimal down time for the patient. This laser has the ability to exfoliate the surface and also stimulate collagen production deep within the skin in the same treatment.

How YAG Skin Resurfacing Works
The Erbium laser is attracted to water in the skin. Because the skin is approximately 64% water, the laser energy is absorbed deep within the skin and creates a thermal injury inside the dermis. This injury triggers a rapid healing response so the skin starts to produce new skin cells and collagen to rebuild itself.
The laser also ablates the top layer of the skin which has an exfoliating effect. Within a few days of treatment, the skin starts to regenerate rapidly and new skin cells emerge as early as Day 5 post-treatment.
Results are progressive as the skin continues to rebuild and heal itself. This can be a very effective treatment for those who are concerned about fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of aging.
