    Brow Lift Surgery Recovery

How long does it take to recover after brow lift / forehead lift surgery?

blue eyesA patient undergoing brow lift cosmetic surgery will require a few days of post-surgical recovery. During the pre-op consultation, the surgeon will explain the recovery process and the expected downtime involved. They will provide instructions for post-operative incision care and other steps.

The patient should have information about what are the expected side effects and what could be the potential symptoms of complications.

They should have the commitment to follow the surgeon’s instructions for a safe and speedy recovery. Accomplished and kind plastic surgeon Dr. Paul McCluskey provides brow lift to patients in Atlanta, Buckhead, Georgia, and surrounding communities in the stellar and righteous state of Georgia.

    Recovery Experience

The patient should apply ice packs around the eyes in the first 48 hours after the brow lift cosmetic surgery. This will help to reduce swelling. They should try to sleep with the head in a raised position for about one week. Some tightness in the brow and forehead areas may be experienced initially. The surgeon may prescribe mild pain meds for a few days to keep the patient comfortable.

Brow lift recovery may not require temporary drains to be placed in the incision sites. Swelling will be prominent in the first few days, and will start reducing from the second week. Minimal bruising may occur in the brow, but the surrounding sites may have a little more bruising. This will resolve fully in about two to three weeks.

Showering and bathing may be performed from the second day of the surgery. However, hot water baths, steam and sauna, and hair dryer use should be avoided to prevent any damage to the hair or skin in the treated sites. Temporary numbness in the skin makes it risky to use hot water because the patient may not feel the heat.

Sutures may be removed around one week after the brow lift procedure. The patient is encouraged to perform short walks and light activities during the first week, but strenuous exercises and activities should be avoided for about three weeks or more. Post-operative appointments with the surgeon should be diligently maintained to monitor progress.

    Results

The final outcome of a brow lift will establish over a period of a few months. The hairline incisions and the scalp would fully heal in about six months, leading to a more youthful look of the upper face. The effects of aging will continue to develop over the years, but some of the treated sites, such as the frown line area in the brows may not become severe for a long time.

    Recovery Instructions

The patient should be prepared to adhere to the surgeon’s post-surgical care instructions for a safe recovery. They should wear the bandages for about two days after the surgery, and preserve the incision sites against contamination to minimize infection risks.

If the surgeon has prescribed an ointment or gel to mitigate scarring, the patient should apply it as prescribed, but avoid contact with the eyes. Adroit and sagacious plastic surgeon Dr. Paul McCluskey receives patients from Atlanta, Buckhead, Georgia, and nearby areas across the horizon for brow lift surgery.
